Introduction


Shanti Jana Adarsha Sewa Kendra (SJASK), established in 1992 AD, is a not-for-profit making development NGO. It was registered at District Administrative Office (DAO), Kavrepalanchok under the Organization Registration Act 2034 BS. SJASK is one of the pioneer development organizations and leading NGOs in Kavre district of Nepal.

As a founder president of NGO Federation Nepal, Kavre Branch, SJASK has been playing key role to organize NGOs and ensure coordination among NGOs, and with funding agencies and government offices in the district. Since its inception, it has been working in the diverse development fields like drinking water & sanitation, forestry and environment, livelihood, education, community infrastructure, agriculture, disaster risk reduction, management and response, humanitarian support, child rights and labour rights etc. SJASK has implemented dozens of development projects and schemes in the partnership with government and semi-governmental agencies, GoN’s programs, UN agencies and other I/NGOs. It has been worked almost all over the district through different project and different times, and also worked in other districts- Ramechhap, Sindhuli and Baitadi.

SJASK has been continuously implementing Drinking water supply and sanitation projects since 1998 AD to till now (all batches from the second batch) in the cooperation and partnership of Rural Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Fund Development Board (RWSSFDB). Till the date, it has completed 58 drinking water schemes in the partnership with  the  different  funding  agencies  like  RWSSFDB/World  Bank,  Community  Drinking Water  and  Sanitation  Project/  ADB,  and  Poverty  Alleviation  Fund  (PAF).  Total 34 drinking water schemes have been reconstructed/maintained in Kavre district. About 60,000 population got access to safe drinking water from these projects, 6 VDCs have already been declared ODFs and recently 2 municipalities, and improved total sanitation and hygiene of around 80,000 community population.
